Entrewomen
(January 2004 - July 2005)

The Entrewomen.ca web site at http://www.entrewomen.ca aims to become the foremost Canadian web site for career information, learning opportunities and networking connections related to women entrepreneurs. With the motto "Developed by women entrepreneurs for women entrepreneurs," Entrewomen provides business and career information that is current, relevant, and in demand across Canada and abroad. Key goals of the site include connecting women to mentors and networking groups, providing access to online training and business information, and facilitating the growth of entrepreneurial alliances. The Entrewomen project is hosted by ACTEW: A Commitment to Training and Employment for Women and PARO: A Northwestern Ontario Women's Community Loan Fund.

Key Project Deliverables

  • Online Clearinghouse of Tools and Resources: the Entrewomen.ca project will contribute to the knowledge base on learning technologies by providing an online clearinghouse of tools and resources to enhance and expand the lifelong learning opportunities available to women interested in starting, or developing, their own businesses.
  • Interactive Marketplace: the Entrewomen project provides an interactive marketplace where women can search for other women-owned businesses in their community and promote their own businesses online by uploading information on their products and services.
  • Online Resources and Learning Opportunities: women from the general public as well as practitioners in the employment and training sector will be able to access a wide range of learning resources on business planning. They may use the Entrewomen.ca site for resources and learning modules related to self-employment, for networking with other women business owners, and for promoting their goods and services.
  • Workshops: ACTEW and PARO will be delivering at least 10 face-to-face workshops on using the Entrewomen.ca site and women's business development. Through these sessions women will learn how to access the online learning modules, resources database, marketplace, and networking discussion area.
