Beautiful Beginnings
(September 2002 - August 2003)
More than 20,000 women complete job-training and employment
programs at community-based agencies each year. Many of
these women are moving into the Canadian workforce from
social assistance, long periods of unemployment, or as newcomers
to Canada. Career counsellors have identified a number of
barriers to securing meanful employment, including a woman's
lack of self-confidence. The Beautiful Beginnings program
provided a series of information sessions, hands-on workshops,
and resource sheets to help women create and maintain a
professional look for the Canadian workplace. Overall, Beautiful
Beginnings helped nearly 250 women.
Funding for this program was provided by the Ontario
Trillium Foundation. |
