Supporting Survivors, Supporting Employment
(August 2007 - July 2008)

The Ministry of the Attorney General's Ontario Victims Services Secretariat has funded ACTEW in partnership with Springtide Resources to deliver Supporting Survivors, Supporting Employment, a project that will support employment practitioners as they support survivors of intimate partner abuse.

One of the best ways for women to escape cycles of violence is to obtain economic self sufficiency for themselves and their children. This project will give employment practitioners the strategies and resources to better serve clients seeking economic independence from abusive partners.

ACTEW and Springtide Resources will collaborate to develop and deliver a series of professional development workshops for front-line career development practitioners. The project will tap into successful strategies already utilized in survivor-focused employment programs as well as the networks and expertise of the violence prevention sector. Supporting Survivors, Supporting Employment also builds on our Moving On To Success project.

For more information, to join our advisory team, or to register for the workshops, please contact Trish McNamara at trish@actew.org.
