ACTEW LAUNCHES A NEW WEB SITE!
This summer, ACTEW launched a brand new web site at http://www.actew.org,
complete
with a new logo and new look. We encourage you to check
out the new site—you’ll see some
changes and improvements, as well as some new additions.
Some of the main changes include:
- New Members’ Discussion
Area: This area has been improved to offer easier
use. This
area is no longer open to everyone who signs up; instead
we will be using this to serve
our members and our projects.
- New Projects Section:
Now you can see ACTEW’s current and recent projects
at a
glance, as well as all of ACTEW’s publications and
announcements of upcoming workshops.
- New Job Board: To
be on ACTEW’s web site in early September, we will
be able to offer
a separate board for jobs in the community-based training
and employment sector that will
be fully searchable by region and by subject. As always,
there is no fee for anyone to post
or submit jobs to our web site.
- New Resource Library:
To be on ACTEW’s web site in early September, we
will be able to
offer an even better method of searching for resources
in the community-based training
sector, as well as offering you the opportunity to suggest
resources for our library!
- New ACTEW-L Email Bulletin:
As you have likely already noticed, ACTEW has introduced
a new HTML version of our ACTEW-L Email Bulletin. We will
always have the email bulletins
available on our web site for those of you who do not
or cannot receive HTML-based emails.
We hope you enjoy our new web site! If you have any questions,
feedback or suggestions for
further development, we are always happy to hear from
you.

HRSDC CALL FOR PROPOSALS PROCESS
Human Resources and Skills Development Canada is issuing
a series of Calls For Proposals for the
provision of employment assistance services across the province.
The CFP process is being
implemented in accordance with four new national policy
directives designed to improve the
administration, management, transparency and accountability
of contribution programs. Full
details about the CFP process are available at the ACTEW
web site at:

CONTENT-SHARING CONSTELLATION
PROJECT: INTRODUCING OUR REGIONAL CONTENT LIAISONS
In June of 2004, ACTEW hired four Regional Content Liaisons
to work in communities across
Ontario. These liaisons will be helping to promote and train
using our new online self-publishing
tools. They will be delivering workshops on posting news,
events, jobs and resources, and
they will be gathering regional content to post on the ACTEW
web site, bringing new and
hard-to-find content to our online training community. Please
feel free to contact the
Regional Content Liaison for your area with any questions
or ideas:
Christa Van Daele,
Southwestern Regional Content Liaison, mailto:christa@actew.org
Colleen Charland,
Northern Regional Content Liaison, mailto:colleen@actew.org

ENTREWOMEN.CA: AN ONLINE COMMUNITY
FOR SELF-EMPLOYED WOMEN
ACTEW has hired Deanna Yerichuk to coordinate the Entrewomen
project, in conjunction
with PARO: A Northwestern Community Loan Fund for Women.
Entrewomen aims to be
Canada’s source for business information, learning
opportunities and networking connections
related to women entrepreneurs. Within a few weeks, the
web site will launch its first email
bulletin, as well as the first in a series of “Ask
the Expert” articles. If you have any questions
or ideas regarding the project, please don’t hesitate
to contact Deanna at mailto:deanna@actew.org.
Visit Entrewomen at: http://www.entrewomen.ca
Looking to Connect with Self-Employment
Programs: Deanna is looking to connect with
ACTEW member agencies that deliver self-employment programs
for women. We hope to find
ways that the Entrewomen project can support both programs
and clients. If you are running
a self-employment program, please contact Deanna at mailto:deanna@actew.org
or (416) 599-3590.

¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸HELP
SUPPORT THE ACTEW-L BULLETIN ! ¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤
ACTEW works hard to bring you timely and appropriate information
about the
community-based training sector, our membership, and women's
training,
education and employment issues. Our e-mail bulletins are
separate from our
membership and are distributed at no cost to over 1,000
subscribers (and
growing daily). Still, they require resources to maintain
and sustain. We
are asking any subscriber who is able to please send in
a donation for
$25.00 to help us continue the work it takes to compile
and disseminate the
ACTEW-L and News on the Net bulletins. We cannot offer a
receipt for a
charitable donation as we don't have charitable status.
Cheques can be
mailed to ACTEW, 401 Richmond Street West, Suite 355, Toronto,
ON, M5V 3A8.
Thank you to all those who are able to help ACTEW continue
to do this work.
